Even the wild heathen Vikings who came to pillage Ireland sometimes converted to Christianity, and a cross like this marked the grave of such a convert. The knotwork is traditional, from a high cross gravestone, but the ring is changed to add two Viking dragon heads to form the top portion of the circle. |
